Social Change Program (SCP)

The Social Change Program is a year long program that aims to provide individuals, groups and/or organization in the MENA region with both theoretical and practical trainings in the area of gender and sexuality applying it to Social Change. Every year, activists are invited to apply to the social change program for an opportunity to connect, advocate and disseminate with other activists and experts in the MENA region. The overall objective of the program is to address the need for a strong civil society to create informed and motivated leaders who will affect social change within their communities.

The SCP provides an opportunity for peer learning, inter-regional exchange and most importantly provides a safe space for activists to talk about their sexuality to shift the discourse from a victim lens into a survivor lens and to tackle sensitive subjects that are difficult to discuss due to the lack of safe spaces. During this time, many collaborations and coalitions are formed to merge their approaches with strategic activism for LGBT rights.
